When camouflaging a light scar the artist is darkening the lighter scar to match the darker surrounding skin. This is done with a combination of diluted ink mixed to match the unique requirements of the client’s skin. When addressing dark scars the artist is neutralizing/lightening the dark scar to reduce it’s prominence against the clients’ surrounding skin using specially formulated pigments to neutralize the dark appearance of the scars using principles of color theory.
Yes, most machine experienced PMUs and paramedical tattoo artist you will have most of the supplies already and the NUE Conceal inks used in the course are available in most countries around the world.

Jody has students in most States and Countries around the world. This procedure usually falls under cosmetic tattoo or body art licensing so if you’re currently licensed you should be able to add this service with ease. Since regulations vary by state it is up to the student to ensure they understand the requirements in their location.
In this course Jody shares her proven method and recommended supplies for removing signs of past trauma for clients across all Fitzpatrick levels with hyperpigmented (dark) scars. In anticipation of creating this course Jody has worked with NUE Conceal to develop a special line of pigments designed just for dark scar lightening.
As long as you are a PMU or body art tattooer with about 1 year of experience you will understand the concepts in this course. If you have less than a year of experience you will require more time to gain experience with models or friends and family prior to perfecting your skills for paying clients.
No supplies are included but Jody provides links and a discount code to purchase the NUE Conceal Dark Scars ink set in the course.
Any rotary tattoo machine with a stroke length of approximately 3mm - 4mm will work. You will want to set the speed between 5 - 7 volts for most cases.
Jody saw her students turning away dark scar clients and realized a need for this course. Jody has been using these methods @cinnamongirlclinic for years but has only recently developed her method of classifying the most common types of dark scars in a way that is easy to teach.
The pigments used in this course are manufactured specifically for dark scar lightening by NUE Conceal and are available worldwide at www.nueconceal.com. They are not included in the price of the coruse but a set is approximately $250 USD.
Each kit includes:
3 x 15 ml inks
1 x 15 ml dilution
3 x 3.5 ml NUE Brite Ampules
It is advised that you do not attempt to camouflage Keloid scars or clients who are prone to keloid scarring.
The FDA has not approved any pigments for injection into the skin for cosmetic purposes.
A REACH complaint version of the ink set is underway however is not available at this time.

The NUE Conceal serums and inks used as part of Jody's camouflage tattooing process are products designed for use in camouflage tattooing and do not include any unintended ingredients which may be present when self-mixing serums based on over the counter products. In addition Jody's technique ensures any revisions are done without the risk of causing excess trauma to the treatment areas.
