Inkless Stretch Marks Quiz

Jody started tattooing over 12 years ago when there was very limited knowledge about medical tattooing, which forced her to learn on a case-by-case basis. Through the mainstream cosmetic tattoo industry, she was lucky to connect with esteemed doctors who invited her to apprentice where she could apply her skills to their medical cases. She experienced first hand how fulfilling it was to play a role in a medical client’s healing and recovery.

Jody specializes in Paramedical Tattooing where she helps people of all ages who have suffered various traumas.

COURSE FAQs

A method of treating stretch mark scars with a vitamin serum prior to, and perhaps instead of, camouflage tattooing. The vitamin serum is placed in the skin with a rotary tattoo machine. The serum combined with the needling triggers the bodies natural healing response to make the stretch mark less noticeable.

Serum is available for $320 USD (after discount found inside course) for a package of 10 x 5ml bottles.

On average, you should be able to treat 10 areas about the size of her palm with a single 5ml bottle.

When you purchase the 10 bottle kit for $320 USD (with code inside the course) the total serum cost of each of these areas is just $3.20.

This procedure usually falls under tattoo or body art licensing so if you’re currently licensed you should be able to add this service with ease. Since regulations vary by state it is up to the student to ensure they understand the requirements in their location.

People use the term microneedling to include many things, Jody considers microneedling to be a technique using a smaller needle, like a Dr. Pen or other a dermaroller, and is intended to cause damage to the skin which triggers your body’s natural healing response as a way to revise areas of concern - no healing serum is added while needling. Tattooing is the placement of pigment or ink in an area of concern to blend it with the appearance of the surrounding skin. ISR is closest to tattooing as you are using a rotary tattoo machine - more powerful than a microneedling machine - however instead of ink you are placing healing serum in the treatment area.

Yes, with certain precautions recommended for high fitz clients

As long as you are a PMU or body art tattooer with about 1 year of experience you will understand the concepts in this course. If you have less than a year of experience you will require more time to gain experience with models or friends and family prior to perfecting your skills for paying clients.

Stretch marks are actually scars so the method does work on scars technically, with surgical scars or scars from other trauma this method is not likely to bring up enough color to camouflage without ink.

Slightly Disappointed

I’m disappointed with this course, primarily because of the lack of clear, upfront information regarding licensing and regulatory requirements based on Jurisdiction.

The ISR course is marketed as a paramedical/scar course for existing PMU artists and body-art tattooers looking to expand their services. As a scar camouflage artist myself, this made the course particularly relevant to my existing practice, and I purchased it with the intention of adding ISR as another scar-related service.

However, the course information does not clearly disclose prior to purchase that an existing PMU or body-art license may not authorize you to perform ISR depending on your state and county. I only learned after completing the course that, in Iowa, ISR does not fall under permanent cosmetics and requires additional licensure/authorization that I do not currently hold. I am therefore unable to legally offer the service.

I completely understand that regulations vary by state and that practitioners are responsible for verifying their own requirements. However, when a course is specifically marketed as a paramedical/scar training and to professionals who already hold PMU or body-art credentials, I believe this limitation should be made extremely clear before purchase. Had I known Iowa required additional licensure, I would not have invested in a course for a service I cannot legally provide.

Ultimately, I paid for professional education that was highly relevant to my existing scar camouflage practice, only to discover afterward that I cannot legally add this particular service under my current Iowa licensure. My concern is not that Iowa has different regulations—it is that this important limitation was not made sufficiently clear before purchase, when it could have materially affected my decision to enroll. Just a bummer I suppose.

The training was very short but informative. Wish the price of the product needed to perform the service was mention prior to purchasing the course.
